VICTORIA COUNTY MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

September 28, 1998

A meeting of Victoria County Municipal Council was held at the Court House, Baddeck, on Monday, September 28, 1998, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with Warden MacInnes in the Chair.

Present were:

District #1 - Gerald Yetman

District #3 - Bruce Morrison

District #4 - John Graham MacInnes, Warden

District #5 - Gerald Sampson

District #6 - Lawrence Barron

District #7 - David Donovan

District #8 - Robert MacLellan

Also present were:

Brian Trask, CAO

Arthur Pickup, Solicitor

Heather MacLean, Recording Secretary

Absent was:

Shane Toms, Deputy Warden

CALL TO ORDER

Warden MacInnes called the meeting to order.

MEETING

The Warden announced that Alice Almon, HRDC, will be hosting a meeting in North Sydney at 7:30 p.m. this evening regarding the TAGS Program. It was felt it would be beneficial for representatives from Council to attend this meeting. This matter will be decided later in the meeting.

Council then moved to go In Camera.

Council then returned to regular session.

LACK OF QUORUM

Councillors Sampson, MacLellan and Donovan left the meeting to attend the TAGS meeting, therefore, there was no longer a quorum.

BADDECK PUBLIC LIBRARY SOCIETY

Representatives from the Baddeck Public Library Society were in attendance concerning the County's withdrawing their financial assistance toward the rental costs for the Baddeck Public Library. In attendance were:

Agnes MacLeod

Dr. Stewart MacDonald

Dr. Chris Sommerville

Neil Bell

Mrs. Langley made a presentation on behalf of the society and a discussion took place.

Brian Trask will investigate how possibly to access funding for this request and it will be brought to Council's next meeting on October 5, 1998. Warden MacInnes assured the representatives that a decision would be made in the near future.

As there was not enough members present to constitute a quorum, the meeting adjourned.
