Victoria County's Strategy to expand broadband applications
has been approved by Municipal Council.
The strategy is for the next 5 years and includes
six major recommendations - 1) Sustain Due Diligence, 2)
Monitor and Expand Broadband, 3) Continue to
assist Community Groups, 4) Infrastructure Support and
Training, 5) Active Community Engagement and 6)
Host Targeted Conferences. An

Dept. is now available.
3) Festival Funding assistance for musical entertainment
is now available for community non profit
organizations in Victoria County. Please find the
guidelines
and an
application form. Funding assistance
is available up to $500.00 and must by matched by
your organization.
4) Victoria
County's Tourism Resource Centre for
tourism industry in Victoria County
has been updated
June 26th
with a number of news articles on tourism from
Atlantic Canada and Canada,
International Tourism
news,
Technology news
and the
Tourism calendar. Some of these
articles include:

5) Victoria County
Strategic Plan Update - Two workshops in Middle River and
Ingonish were well attended
and represent the second stage of the public
engagement process. At these
workshop sessions participants
had a chance to review five statements of
community values, grapple with four strategic themes and
identify roles and responsibilities. The next
stage of the strategic planning process will be a draft report
that will reflect on what we heard from residents
as priorities and what recent research data on the
economy and population shows. Consultants hope to
invite further comments and ideas from the community
with more news in June.

Development project in Victoria
County announced on June 26 - That
poles have been erected at final two sites - West Tarbot and
Tarbotvale. Expect another two weeks or more before
they are hooked up, powered up and tested.
