Waste Collection Driver test

The Municipality of the County of Victoria is requesting applications for the position of Waste Collection Driver based out of our Baddeck Waste Management Facility.
Reporting to the Collections Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of duties associated with waste collection in Victoria County. A Class 1 driver's license with air brake certification and a clean driver's abstract is required.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm

Recycling Attendant

The Municipality of the County of Victoria is requesting applications for a Recycling Attendant at the Baddeck Waste Management Facility.
The successful applicants will be responsible for a variety of duties associated with the operation of the Baddeck Waste Management Facility. These involve handling, sorting and baling of blue bag materials, compost operations, Enviro- Depot services, general site maintenance of the Transfer Station and diversion yard, waste collection helper, along with other duties as assigned.
Term: May to November 2014
Hours: Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Work Location: Baddeck Transfer Station, Baddeck, NS

Data Clerk & Coordinator

Job Region: Work is performed out of the main office located in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, with some travel throughout Inverness, Richmond, Cape Breton and Victoria Counties.

Reports to: Municipal Physical Activity Leadership Coordinator, Municipality of the County of Victoria

Contract date/ Term of Employment: Mid-June, 2014 – Mid-June, 2015 (52 weeks)
Background
The Active Cape Breton Communities Partnership is creating a public, internet-based, searchable directory available to all residents and visitors of the Cape Breton Region (Island) whereby up-to-date information can be accessed on active living opportunities relating to physical activity, sport and recreation programs, resources, facilities and services in communities. The active living directory is known as the Cape Breton Connect (CBC) and serves to increase participation in active living through increased awareness of opportunities. (Examples of Connect directories in other regions of Nova Scotia can be found at, http://www.highlandconnect.ca/ and http://southshoreconnect.ca/ )
Scope & Overall Responsibility:
The Cape Breton Connect (CBC) Task Team (under the Active Cape Breton Communities Partnership) is seeking an active living Data Clerk & Coordinator (DCC) to collect, organize, enter and maintain active living information for the CBC. The DCC is responsible for working with CBC's core and supporting partners in collecting and verifying the active living information. As a secondary responsibility, the DCC supports the Marketing Developer & Coordinator position for the project. The DCC reports to the Municipal Physical Activity Leadership Coordinator in Victoria County and works under the direction and guidance of the CBC Task Team.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Participate in training as directed by the CBC Task Team
• Develop a work plan for the project under the guidance of the CBC Task Team
• Work with core and supporting partners to collect active living information for the CBC Connect
• Organize and input data received from CBC Task Team and selected organizations and agencies
• Create, update, and maintain records within the CBC Connect
• Verify record information including programs offered, areas served and other pertinent details required in the record template.
• Research new services, programs and agencies for entry in the CBC Connect
• Maintain the CBC Connect so that it remains current, accurate and adheres to standards of professionalism provided by CBC Task Team.
• Provide quality control of data.
• Report on a regular scheduled basis to the CBC Task Team, and as requested, to the Active Cape Breton Communities Partnership at large.
• Coordinate training on the management of records to staff from the core partners
• Provide training and technical assistance on the management of records to staff from the core partners.
• Work with the Marketing Developer & Coordinator, when needed, to achieve the goal of the CBC project
• Perform various administrative tasks and other office related duties

Education: A minimum of some post-secondary education in a related field
Knowledge:
• General knowledge of the physical activity, sport and recreation sectors
• General knowledge of the Cape Breton Region (Inverness, Richmond, Cape Breton and Victoria Counties) is an asset

Salary and benefits: This is a full time position for 12 months based on 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, daytime hours. Hourly wage is $13 to $16/hour based on qualifications, experience, and a demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
