More than 50 people joined Victoria County councillors Bruce Morrison and Perla MacLeod as they hosted a Town Hall with representatives from Irving Oil and the provincial department of Transportation, Infrastructure & Renewal (NS TIR) on June 5. Irving is planning upgrades, which include better access to and from their site, a re-arranging of traffic flow at the Irving gas pumps, card Lock and Tim Horton's. NS TIR is planning to add right and left turning lanes. Both expect this work to happen at the same time - which is expected after Labour Day. The number one concern of residents at this meeting is the speed limit of 90 kilometers per hour on the Trans Canada. Most feel it should be lowered. Council has repeated asked for a lowered speed limit at this site and encourages everyone to write a letter to Lloyd Hines, Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure & Renewal with this request.
